Private Residence, United States

The elegant simplicity of folding white stucco forms frames the views, creates privacy, and gives an expressive quality to this urban retreat. Designed by Charles for his sister, this family oasis, built by the architect’s son, is truly a ‘family’ project. Not only did they realize this work together, but also the goal of the project was to create a unique, comfortable home for the two empty nesters to have a place where family and friends can gather comfortably and be a positive example for the world by being ‘green’ and self-sustaining.

The open layout and sanctuary-like salt-water pool area, create privacy for entertaining within the long urban lot. A hidden roll up screen wall converts a covered terrace into a screened porch for additional pool-side living.
